About
Art From Here was developed to support artists and generate critical discourse, connection and community.
Each month, Art From Here showcases the work and practice of an amiskwacîwâskahikan-Edmonton artist, and an associated writing from a collaborator, colleague, or friend. This culminates with a virtual studio visit with the artist in the last week of the month, where the community can engage with the artist and their work.
Art From Here is a collaborative project
involving Latitude 53, the Mitchell Art Gallery, Ociciwan Contemporary Art Collective and the Society of Northern Alberta Print Artists (SNAP). Collectively, we recognize the importance of nurturing ongoing relationships with artists and within the arts community. The artists featured on Art From Here are curated in collaboration with these partner galleries.
Art From Here was initially supported by the Edmonton Arts Council and Edmonton Community Foundation’s Digital Arts Fund.
Artist Fees paid to artists for Art From Here for the first 6 weeks were supported by the EAC and ECF’s Digital Arts Fund, which focused on the digital dissemination and distribution of artistic work and the generation and exchange of critical discourse, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
